Get started
Connect WhatWins to an AI client, authorize one workspace and verify the connection.
The fastest setup uses OAuth. You paste one server URL, sign in to WhatWins and approve the workspace the AI client may read.
Before you begin
You need:
- a WhatWins account with access to a Pro or Business workspace;
- a supported AI client;
- permission to add connectors or custom apps in that client.
No OAuth credentials to create
Leave OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret empty. WhatWins supports dynamic client registration and PKCE, so the client handles registration for you.
Connect in three steps
Choose your client
Open Organization settings → WhatWins AI → MCP access. Claude app is shown first, followed by ChatGPT and Claude Code.
Add the remote server
Use WhatWins as the connector name and paste:
https://whatwins.io/api/mcpWhen you start from the WhatWins setup panel, the URL is copied for you and the relevant client settings page opens.
Authorize one workspace
Sign in on the WhatWins consent screen, choose the organization the client may access and select Allow access.
Verify the connection
Start a new conversation and ask:
What WhatWins tools can you use?The client should report eight tools. Then test a bounded research question:
Use WhatWins to discover 5 Shopify stores selling creatine gummies.If the client cannot see the tools, reopen its connector settings and confirm the WhatWins connection is enabled for the current conversation or workspace.
Choose the right authentication method
| Client | Recommended method | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Claude app | OAuth | Browser sign-in and explicit workspace consent |
| ChatGPT | OAuth | No WhatWins secret pasted into ChatGPT |
| Claude Code | Static MCP key | Header-based CLI setup is direct and predictable |
| Custom client | OAuth first | Use a static key only if OAuth is unsupported |
Continue with the dedicated Claude app, ChatGPT, or Claude Code guide.
