Connect ChatGPT

Add WhatWins as a custom ChatGPT MCP app using Developer mode and OAuth.

ChatGPT connects to WhatWins as a custom app. The WhatWins setup panel opens ChatGPT Apps settings and copies the MCP URL, leaving one paste before OAuth takes over.

Workspace availability

Custom MCP apps are available on supported ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces on the web. An administrator may need to enable Developer mode or approve the app for your workspace.

Open ChatGPT from WhatWins

In Organization settings → WhatWins AI → MCP access, select the ChatGPT tab and choose Open ChatGPT & copy URL. The OpenAI logo stays white on the active tab and dark call-to-action for clear contrast in both themes.

Create the app

Enable Developer mode

In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and enable Developer mode. If the control is locked, ask a workspace administrator.

Create a custom app

Select Create app and enter:

FieldValue
NameWhatWins
MCP server URLhttps://whatwins.io/api/mcp
AuthenticationOAuth

Leave manually supplied OAuth client credentials empty when those fields are shown.

Scan and authorize tools

Let ChatGPT scan the server, then authorize WhatWins. Sign in, select one organization and approve whatwins:read access.

Enable the app

In a new conversation, add WhatWins from the Apps or tools menu before asking a market-research question.

Example prompts

Use WhatWins to compare live Meta ad counts for Gymshark and Alo Yoga over 6 months.
Find 8 in-stock products matching "sleep mouth tape" and rank them by relevance.
Show me the top organic Instagram posts for these tracked shops, sorted by outlier score.

Admin-managed workspaces

Enterprise and Edu administrators may control whether users can create, publish or run custom apps. If creation succeeds but other members cannot use WhatWins, the app may still need admin review or workspace publication.

Troubleshooting

  • If scanning returns no tools, confirm the URL has no trailing text or spaces.
  • If authorization loops, remove the incomplete app and create it again.
  • If tools are visible but unavailable in chat, enable WhatWins for that conversation.
  • If a tool reports insufficient credits, check the whatwins://usage resource or your WhatWins AI usage panel.
