Connect the Claude app

Add WhatWins as a Claude custom connector with OAuth and no manually created client secret.

Claude is the first and simplest graphical setup in WhatWins. The connector uses browser OAuth, so you never paste a WhatWins API key into Claude.

One-click start from WhatWins

Open Organization settings → WhatWins AI → MCP access and keep Claude app selected. Select Open Claude & copy URL.

WhatWins copies the server URL and opens Claude's connector settings. Claude does not currently provide a public prefilled connector-install URL, so one paste is still required.

Add the connector

Open custom connectors

In Claude, open Settings → Connectors, then select Add custom connector.

Enter the server details

Set Name to WhatWins and paste:

https://whatwins.io/api/mcp

Open Advanced settings only to confirm that OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret are empty.

Authorize WhatWins

Select Add or Connect. Sign in to WhatWins, choose one eligible organization and select Allow access.

Test it

Start a new Claude conversation and ask:

Use WhatWins to find 5 specialist running-shoe shops, ranked by traffic.

Claude should request or use the discover_shops tool and return evidence from WhatWins.

Use the connector in a conversation

Depending on your Claude workspace, connectors can be enabled globally or selected from the conversation's tools menu. If Claude says it cannot access WhatWins, confirm the connector is toggled on for the active chat.

Reauthorize or remove

If your organization membership or plan changes, reconnect the connector so Claude receives a fresh authorization. Removing the connector from Claude prevents future calls from that client; revoke the WhatWins authorization as well if you no longer trust the client.

Only install connectors you trust

An MCP connector can expose tools to an AI client. WhatWins exposes bounded, read-only research tools and checks authorization on every call.
